Did you know giving back improves self-esteem? According to research shared by Advocate Health Care Charitable Foundation, life satisfaction and sense of purpose go hand-in-hand with the self-esteem boost that comes from giving time to charitable causes in the community. It is no secret that giving back has numerous benefits, beyond improving self-esteem. The team behind RDO Caters Taters knows that, as do our hundreds of guests who buy lunch, purchase raffle tickets, and support the event year after year. Another group that is highly engaged with Caters Taters’ mission of giving back is the event sponsors. Eide Bailly Most of the businesses that support Caters Taters do so regardless of the benefiting charity. Eide Bailly is no exception, having been a partner since the early days of the event. It is an important part of the company culture to support the community and various organizations, and this is something team members do year-round. However, there are those times that a charity is a bit more special to some. In the case of Eide Bailly, two team members shared personal stories of how they were impacted by this year’s benefiting charity, BIO Girls, a charity that also aims to boost self-esteem through its mission. BIO Girls Connection Almost immediately after his daughter joined BIO Girls’ Fargo program, Ryan Beste saw the impact. “At first, it was that she really enjoyed going to the meetings,” he recalls, acknowledging the fun and encouraging environment she was in. But what Ryan, a Partner at Eide Bailly, really noticed was the build-up in her self-esteem and how it would grow, “every time she met with her group.” One of the specific results he pointed out that impressed him most of all was the way she committed to the physical activity piece of the program, finishing her first 5k at the end of the 12 weeks. “She’s eight and she ran that whole race,” he said. “That is such an accomplishment.” Dave Glennon, Partner in Charge of Manufacturing and Distribution, has been with Eide Bailly as long as Caters Taters has been around – since 2000. Dave’s two daughters participated in BIO Girls’ Casselton program and, like Ryan, he saw immediate, positive results. Perhaps even more impactful, the program caught the eye of someone else close to Dave’s family and inspired her to take a big action. “My sister-in-law saw what the program did for both my girls and was so impressed she started a BIO Girls chapter in Aberdeen [South Dakota] where she lives,” he said. Making an Impact Sponsors and guests alike can be assured that every potato enjoyed, every raffle ticket purchased, and every dollar donated will support BIO Girls and its mission to improve the self-esteem of girls through empowerment of self and service to others. And that ties back to perhaps the most important aspect for Eide Bailly, a company that values community support and instills that value in every team member. No matter the non-profit, regardless of any personal connections to the benefiting charity, they know that their support of RDO Caters Taters makes a difference.
