Since it began in 2000, RDO Caters Taters for Charity has been all about gathering with others to enjoy a delicious meal while raising funds for a deserving charity. While the potato is the star of the event, the driving force behind RDO Caters Taters is the benefiting charity (sorry, Tommy Tater). So why should you support BIO Girls at this year’s RDO Caters Taters event? Here are 10 fun facts about BIO Girls and its positive impact on the community. 1. 7 in 10 BIO Girls participants experience a significant increase in self-esteem. 2. 85.7 percent of parents reported they saw positive effects in other areas their daughter’s life, too. 3. 100 percent of parents reported they would recommend BIO Girls to others. 4. Participants meet for 12 weeks with 90-minute sessions that include life-skills lessons, small group mentoring, and non-competitive physical activity. 5. BIO Girls programming is evidence-based and research-proven. 6. BIO Girls lessons center around four pillars: Kindness, Leadership, Mental Wellness, and Healthy Relationships. 7. 6,174 girls have participated in BIO Girls since 2013; 2,000 girls in 2020 alone. 8. Each site completes a local service project within the community, showing participants that giving back has no age limit. 9. By 2025, BIO Girls’ goal is to reach 3,500 North Dakota girls, annually. 10. BIO Girls is an inclusive program, welcoming girls of all demographics with 12 percent of participants being referrals.
