Sponsor Spotlight – PricewaterhouseCoopers
It was 20 years ago when RDO Caters Taters for Charity launched its first potato luncheon, with the goal of bringing together the Fargo-Moorhead community for a meal and raise money for a local charity. Today, the event has continued to be just that, raising nearly $675,000 total throughout the years. RDO Caters Taters has continued to be successful thanks to the generosity of the community, as well as sponsorship support from several companies. Here’s a look at one of those companies: PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). Spotlight on PwC Similar to R.D. Offutt Company, Jon Friese, Partner in PwC’s Minneapolis office, says giving back and volunteering are also big pieces of PwC’s culture. Combined with a 15-year history as RDO Equipment Co.’s audit firm and tax advisor, PwC continues to be a proud RDO Caters Taters supporter each year. In addition to shared philosophies on charitable giving, Jon shares a few more common links between the two groups. 1. Casselton Home In 1968, Ron Offutt purchased his first equipment dealership in Casselton, ND. This was the spark that ignited the RDO Equipment Co. fire, which today is burning strong with more than 75 locations in nine states. The community of Casselton isn’t just special to the RDO team, it also has ties to Jon. His wife was born and raised on a farm outside of Casselton. The family frequently visits with their favorite time being during harvest season. “Although we live in Minneapolis, the communities of Casselton and Fargo are very special to us and feel like our second home,” Jon said. 2. Event Enjoyment While most R.D. Offutt Company team members would say RDO Caters Taters is a fun event they look forward to every year, PwC shares similar feelings. “The PwC team thoroughly enjoys the event and going to Fargo to attend,” Jon said. In addition to his Casselton ties, several other PwC team members have North Dakota roots, so going to the event is a great way to give back to the local community and a fun reason to visit the area – and this year is no exception. When asked if the team planned to attend this year for the 20th anniversary, Jon’s response was an enthusiastic, “Absolutely!” 3. In Good Company One of the reasons RDO Caters Taters continues to be a world-class event is the committee and volunteers behind it. R.D. Offutt Company team members are encouraged to join the committee or volunteer at the event, with most eager to participate year after year. When asked what he believes employees would say about working at PwC, Jon’s comments weren’t far from this same team aspect that RDO Caters Taters has. “The biggest thing I hear is that everyone enjoys the people they work with,” he said. “It can be a busy and challenging work environment, but everyone feels like they’re building long-lasting relationships with other PwC employees or with their clients. I think that team aspect and camaraderie keeps employees engaged and wanting to be here.” Visit the PwC website to learn more about the company and the services it offers in the areas of assurance, tax, and consulting. ---------- Join us for RDO Caters Taters for Charity, Tuesday, November 26 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Fargo. 100% of proceeds benefit PATH.
