RDO Equipment Co. and R.D. Offutt Company’s annual RDO Caters Taters for Charity event did not occur as usual in 2020 amid the COVID-19 environment, but through a combination of direct donations and funds raised via silent auction, remote efforts garnered nearly $30,000 for this year’s charitable recipient, Valley Senior Services. Valley Senior Services meets needs for thousands of seniors in and around the Fargo-Moorhead community each year, and they have felt the impact of COVID-19 in several ways, the most pressing of which has been a significant increase in requests for home delivered meals. “We are so grateful to RDO Equipment Co., R.D. Offutt Company, and their Community Responsibility Committee for their incredible donation to Valley Senior Services,” said Brian Arett, Director of Valley Senior Services. “Since the start of COVID-19, the demand for home delivered meals has increased by 20 percent. The funds raised by RDO are essential in helping us to keep up with the growing need for this service. On behalf of the hundreds of seniors we serve every day, thank you so much!” For more than 20 years, RDO Caters Taters for Charity, driven by the partnership and generosity of individuals and businesses across the community, has raised nearly $800,000 for area non-profit organizations. Though RDO team members and leadership ultimately decided not to host the hallmark potato luncheon this year, the tradition of community support at the core of the event for the last two decades remained. “Though we were disappointed to not have our usual luncheon and all its fun and festivities this year, we were honored that so many past supporters of RDO Caters Taters stood by us and stepped up to make an impact for Valley Senior Services and our community,” said Jessi Zenker, Communications Specialist. --- Valley Senior Services serves thousands of seniors in our community each year, and they have felt the impact of COVID-19 in several ways – but the most pressing has been a significant increase in requests for their services. For years, the partnership and generosity of individuals and businesses has played a role in helping us raise nearly $770,000 for area non-profit organizations, and this year, there’s nothing stopping that tradition of community support.
